PROOF
Two very different businesses, one Foundation
Foundation is judged by the sites it produces, not by a list of features. Two fictional businesses run on the same Foundation-derived system as this website — with their own identity, their own content and their own navigation.
- Both demos are live sites you can open, browse and compare with this one.
- Both are fictional businesses, created to exercise Foundation on realistic content.
- Neither is a client and neither is a case study.
What the demonstrations prove
A single rendered design would prove almost nothing. Two materially different businesses show that adopting Foundation means configuring one system rather than repeating one template.
Service business with project work
A garden maintenance and landscaping business organised around finished work: service pages, a project gallery to look through, a service area, and a quote-oriented path for a visitor.
Visibly different
- Its own logo, accent colour, imagery and hero
- Its own sidebar navigation, with its own labels, order and landing page
- Portfolio and testimonials collections, and a request-a-quote prompt in the top bar
- Pages written for its own customers rather than for a software project
Shared capability it demonstrates
Capability switching: offerings, portfolio and testimonials are enabled for this site, built from its own content, and simply absent from the other demo.
Recurring-service business
A home and small-office cleaning business with a shorter journey from arrival to enquiry: its services, a how-it-works page, a service area, and its own route to a quote.
Visibly different
- A different identity: its own logo, accent colour, imagery and hero
- Its own sidebar navigation with its own labels — a how-it-works page where the other demo has its project gallery
- No portfolio collection at all: a recurring-service business presents services rather than finished projects
- Its own page inventory, wording and calls to action
Shared capability it demonstrates
One runtime serving a second business type: fewer collections, a shorter path from arrival to enquiry, and its own configuration rather than a second codebase.
Shared by both demos
- The Foundation-derived runtime, routing and static generation
- Content loading, metadata, sitemap and robots generation
- The presentation system, design tokens and shell behaviour
- Configuration validation, the test gate and the deployment machinery
Configured per site
- Identity, branding artwork and accent colour
- Pages, collections, business data and imagery
- Navigation inventory, labels and order
- Which optional capabilities are switched on
Every difference above is configuration, content or artwork. Neither demo carries a copy of the other's data, and neither forks the runtime that renders this website.
Three sites, three different jobs
The same system is being asked to present three different kinds of organisation. None of them is a variation of another, and the differences are configuration rather than code.
Provelopment Foundation
This website: an open-source project and documentation presentation, with top, compact and drawer navigation, and no business collections enabled at all.
Ashcombe Landscapes & Gardens
A service business that has to show finished work before it is believed: portfolio-oriented, visual, and organised around a quote.
Ashcombe Cleaning Co.
A recurring-service business: a shorter path from arrival to enquiry, presenting services rather than a gallery of projects.
This website is the project's own site — not a third demo and not a business. The two demos are the proof that one system can serve materially different organisations.
Demonstrations, not clients
- The two businesses above are fictional, invented to exercise Foundation on realistic content.
- They are not clients and not case studies, and no commercial relationship is implied.
- Their names, contact details, service areas and business information are demonstration content.
- No business result, conversion figure, review or performance claim is made about them, because none has been measured and none would mean anything.
What they demonstrate is architectural: two different businesses running on one Foundation-derived system, with no fork in the code.
Look at the sites themselves
Open a demo, then compare it with this website. Notice what changed between the two demos — and what did not. What did not change is Foundation.
